For the sake of education and peace-of-mind, this company provides a sample contract and quote calculator on their website. In exchange for a $75 administration fee, they also offer a pro-rated refund if the initial 30 days have expired.

Cancellation Policy

Select reserves the right to cancel the service contract in the event of fraudulent conduct or misrepresentations by the customer, failure to make the required payments, or upon agreement. The customer may cancel the agreement within 30 days from the order date of the agreement and will be entitled to a full refund only if no service has been provided under the contract. After 30 days, the customer may receive a pro-rated refund for the non-discounted annual plan cost. The customer will be charged a $75 cancellation fee, plus any service expenses incurred by Select Home Warranty.

Over the years, I have been with a few home warranty companies. Most of them are just okay - it's a toss-up as to what will get fixed or not. I had been with Landmark prior to Select and did not renew because Landmark fought me on a covered claim and never tried to resolve it. In hindsight, I should have stayed with them because Select Home Warranty was by far worse. I was told by the rep when I signed up that their coverage was comprehensive. This is not the case. I had a water heater fail and nothing was covered. They could not find me a repair person. I kept calling to get someone out and they told me no one was taking the job. Total ripoff. Avoid at all costs. Poor response time when submitting claim, then your claim is either not accepted or your are hit with additional charges. The biggest mistake I’ve made as a homeowner was selecting Select Home Warranty. Huge ripoff

Absolutely the worst warranty company I have every worked with. I would guess they are likely the worst company on the market in general, although that is somewhat unfair since I have certainly not experienced each company personally. Their sales people are good- very slick and make wonderful promises that cannot be fulfilled. Do they actually dispatch in an average time of 7 hours 24/7- NO. Do they handle claims quickly- NO. Helpful customer service agents- NO. Each claim I submitted took at least three frustrating phone calls. I was assigned to service companies that don't serve my area. This is a parts only plan, labor to install part is not covered!! Don't buy if you think they will pay for anything that has to be repaired/replaced and you pay a co-pay and installation costs.
