How much does ADT Home Security cost?

ADT offers five security system service plans to choose from: Basic ($28.99/month), Secure (45.99/month), Smart (49.99/month), Video ($56.99/month), and Complete ($59.99/month). Plans require a 36-month minimum contract. Additionally, in the event of early contract termination, ADT may require the client to pay 75% of the monthly charges due for the balance of the first 36-months. The company does offer a 6-month money-back guarantee and a limited warranty for their products (restrictions apply), but overall, ADT seeks a long-term commitment from the customer.

To help protect customers against the cost of unexpected service calls, ADT offers extended limited warranty protection, called their Quality Service Plan, or QSP. While ADT's electronic technology is designed to meet the highest standards, no manufactured equipment is 100% perfect. QSP adds additional coverage some customers might prefer.

In addition, ADT operates six monitoring centers. In the event that your assigned monitoring center goes offline, a security breach or call for help from your home will be automatically rerouted to the next available center.

The ADT Essentials plan for basic digital monitoring service has a limited warranty on parts and labor, something that other competitors do not offer. If you want additional protection, the Essentials Plus package includes 2-way voice monitoring. Like all plans, this one includes monitoring for police, fire, and medical emergencies. However, both plans require customers to have access to their own landline phone.

Customers who do not have landlines can opt for the ADT Secure plan. This plan includes monitoring for police, fire, and medical emergencies and add the peace of mind that comes from knowing that an intruder cannot cut your home’s landline. There is an ADT protection plan for all budgets and needs.

ADT Home Security systems are very user-friendly, and during installation, the technician will show you how to use the equipment. There is technical support available to answer any questions customers have about the equipment. ADT offers professional installation, several monthly plans with competitive rates, and allows users to choose between wireless and hardwired systems. Keep in mind, though, that customers must sign a three-year agreement for all ADT security monitoring plans.

On 9/18/20 I signed a new contract with ADT to have cameras installed that I was assured would meet the specified qualifications for updated security needs. I was sorely disappointed because the cameras did not pick up motion at night. The most problematic was that the majority of the cameras frequently went offline for no apparent reason. I complained that I wasn't getting what I paid for and asked for these to be fixed and a credit. Neither happened. On 5/28/21, the house was sold and the new owners chose not to take on my contract. I have called to cancel my service 5 times. Each time the representative says that the service has been cancelled and then I keep getting charged! Then I have to call back and tell them that I wanted my service cancelled months ago. A complete waste of my time. If they can't even cancel my service, I can't in good faith trust that they are any better with the other services they offer.

I will admit that I did not read the entire 10 page small print contract before I signed. But you would think a sales rep would mention a 3 YEAR contract agreement when speaking to them. Not once was it mentioned that the terms contained the 3 year term. I thought it was 36 months for financing the equipment that was being installed if I so chose. What a dishonest, unethical company. I could even get my cancellation charge of $1500 waived if the people who bought our home would continue with ADT, but I will do everything I can to steer them to ANY other security company!! I would rather pay the money, than see another family screwed!!!

I strongly encourage anyone reading this to NOT EVER use ADT Security Service!!! It took 2 days to get someone out to setup a contract and we are now at 2-months trying to get it cancelled. We signed up for 3 yrs and honored that commitment, but they only want to play the phone us, pass on, phone us again, get put on hold, etc., etc., etc. Got contract for home security in 2018. 3-Yr contract. Wanted to cancel in 2021 at end of 3-yr contract and was told we had to write a letter requesting. Contract was up on 25 July 2021, and sent letter 2 June 2021 asking to cancel. Contract said to do this at least 30-days in advance. After 3 more calls, 2 more letters through the end... Read More

Terrible customer service. I have a business with ADT and home alarm with ADT. Scheduled to have their mandatory cellular communicator replaced. Three appointments with four hour windows. All three times they failed to show up. What a waste of time. Have to rearrange my schedule to accommodate these people and they cannot bother showing up. Also overpriced. The fees keep going up and the service level is going down. Lots of other companies out there that can do a better job for less. I will tell all my friends and business clients to stay away from ADT,

I had ADT for 23 years with no problems. I had a new system installed 3 weeks ago after a lightning strike destroyed my old system. I am on my 8th service visit with the new system. They cannot get it to work properly for more than a day or two at a time. Commitments for call backs from Management are routinely missed; I am kept on hold for a minimum of 15 minutes on the phone and am then transferred to another department where I am kept on hold for another 15 minutes and am then given a commitment that is not kept. We got new windows and the window people ripped out our ADT devices. We consulted ADT about getting new equipment and they quoted us something like $2,000 for the whole house (granted this is a large house). Then we ended up going with another security monitoring company. I had to call ADT to cancel the service and they literally kept me on the phone for 15 minutes tying to get me to stay. Needless to say it was a very annoying experience.

Deceptive practices. When trying to cancel the account and stop recurring billing, with 9 month remaining of a 36 month contract (haven't used the system in 1.5 years due to condo regulations) the associate is lying and trying to charge full remaining contract value (4X.xx$ x 9 months) while the contract clearly states "2. Early Cancellation Fee. BEWARE - CROOKS TRICKING YOU TO SIGN FOR 3 YEARS!! FOR A SUB-PAR, OUTDATED PRODUCT AND ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE SUPPORT... i am amazed this company is allowed to continue. i was duped myself... never told i was signing a 3 year contract, i was in a rush to get security set up and the sales rep knew it (so i could get my insurance)... i was charged over 150$ to "install" the existing equipment and now only a few months later, i called to cxl and was informed i have a 3 year contract?!!? i know it's my fault for trusting and not reading but i was never told... worse yet, they have been absolutely terrible over the few months i have had them... the alarm was triggered a half a dozen times and not...
