Choice Home Warranty offers existing homeowners two plans, each of which cover a mix of systems and appliances. The primary difference between its Total plan and its Basic plan is that refrigerators, washers and dryers, and air conditioning systems are not included in the Basic Plan. Optional coverage for such items as pools and spas, well pumps, and septic systems is available for an additional fee. We requested a quote for a single family home of less than 5000 square feet in a small midwestern city. The premium for Choice Home Warranty's Basic was $47.85 per month and the premium for its Total pan was $54.95 per month. With the cost difference between the two plans being only about $7 per month, to our mind, the Total plan a better value overall because it includes coverage for three of the most common appliances: refrigerators, washers, and dryers. It also includes coverage for air conditioning systems.

The company's co-pay for a service call is $85, slightly less than most comparable companies. The co-pay may be reduced further with special discounts and promotions.

Cancellation Policy

The contract shall be non-cancelable by the company except for nonpayment of contract fees or service fees, fraud or misrepresentation of facts by the customer, or by agreement between client and company. Customers may cancel within the first 30 days of the order date for a full refund of the paid contract fees. If canceled after 30 days, the customer shall be entitled to a pro rata refund of the paid contract fee for the unexpired term, less a $50 administrative fee and any service costs incurred by the company.

I called my Choice Home Warranty to schedule a plumber for in toilet tank and water spigot feed to the toilet problems. OSP Plumbing called and said i have a home appointment between 2pm to 6pm on Friday Sept.24th. The technician, Jeromy, called me at 1:45pm. He arrive at 2:07pm . I paid my contractor fee of $65 with my Master Card. He wore a mask and was very polite. He came in and inspected the toilet and the wall water spigot. He went outside to the sidewalk vault and turned off the City water. He got the replacement parts and tools he needed out of his Company van. I completely disagree with the policy and feel like, as a customer, the warranty does not offer a dollar amount that would replace items with products of comparable features and functions (read the contract...the wholesale value of your product, that the warranty will pay, is generally LESS THAN HALF of the retail price that the customer would have to pay) ...but I appreciate the customer service.

You wiggle out of any larger claim. Your definition of ware and tare gets you out of claims. A heat pump that’s 20 years old out in the weather has the aluminum coil fins collapsing and breaking down is ware and tare according to HVAC technician. You are crooks taking advantage of people. I’m 82 years old when your salesman called me everything was covered if it breaks unless it was due to not having maintenance done. I had American Home Shield for 14 years and never had a problem. You get what you pay for. I would never recommend you to anyone. I’m notifying the BBB your not a member and I understand why.

We had our entire house without the ability to use the bsthrooms for anything due to a pipe blockage leaving the house. We opened a claim and there is no way to mark the issue as urgent or an emergency. With the downstairs half-bath toilet overflowing and no way for any of the 6 family members to use the restroom or take showers we waited for hours for a "technician" to be assigned. The message from CHW indicated it could take up to six hours to get a technician assigned and then we would need to get on their waiting list for service.
